Ablakwa, Armah Kofi-Buah petition CHRAJ over 2020 poll deaths

Ablakwa, Armah Kofi-Buah petition CHRAJ over 2020 poll deaths

Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been petitioned by two Members of Parliament to immediately investigate the death of seven persons during the 2020 elections.

The two are North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa together with Elembelle MP and former Energy Minister Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah.

According to them, Ghana’s democratic experiment will be undermined if the killers of the 7 persons who died during 2020 elections are left off the hook.

They want CHRAJ to launch investigation and prescribed punishment against Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, IGP and anybody working under them whose actions led to the shooting and the killing of unarmed civilians during the crucial 2020 polls.

Speaking to the media after presenting the petition to CHRAJ, the former Deputy Education Minister Ablakwa warned government against political interference by officialdom in the affairs of CHRAJ on the matter.

He noted that it is not legal for people to shoot and kill and the perpetrators are not brought to book. There should not be impediments in the ways of CHRAJ in handling the matter without fear or favour. If you see the videos available yet officialdom is pretending to be investigating 8 months after election, you will be surprised.

“Don’t be deceived, there is no credible investigation ongoing in that regard. We don’t believe that the police should be investigating itself because they are complicit in the killing of 7 innocent voters”, said.
