2024 polls: NDC bans unapproved splinter groups

The directive from Ghana’s opposition party, NDC Headquarters, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) addressed the proliferation of unapproved caucuses, mushroom organizations, and splinter groups within the party.

During FEC’s meeting on March 26, 2024, concerns were raised about the emergence of unauthorized entities within the party ranks. To uphold organizational integrity and discipline, Regional Executive Committees have been tasked with dissolving these unapproved groups in their respective regions.

The directive, communicated in a statement by General Secretary Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on March 27, 2024, emphasizes the importance of maintaining coherence and unity within the Party structure. Regional executives are expected to carry out the dissolution process promptly and submit a comprehensive report to the General Secretary no later than April 8, 2024.

The Party headquarters reiterated the urgency of this directive in consolidating the Party’s organizational framework and fostering unity among its members. Unauthorized groups can undermine the Party’s cohesion and dilute its objectives, hence the need for decisive action to maintain order and discipline.
