2024 polls: Presidential candidates to file nominations from Sept. 9 to 13

During an interview on Joy News on August 30, Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Services, reassured the public that the EC is well-prepared for the upcoming elections. Dr. Asare emphasized that all necessary measures have been implemented to guarantee transparent, free, and fair elections.

He announced that the voter’s register exhibition had been successfully completed, and the Commission is now focused on finalizing the voter’s register. Additionally, Dr. Asare mentioned that nearly 200,000 individuals have been recruited to work at approximately 40,653 polling stations nationwide.The electoral timeline was also outlined, indicating that candidates are required to file their nominations from September 9 to September 13, 2024. Subsequently, the EC will print the notice of poll, detailing the candidates for both parliamentary and presidential elections in all 276 constituencies. Dr. Asare concluded by affirming the EC’s readiness for a successful, peaceful, transparent, and credible general election.
