24 presidents to attend BRICS summit in Russia -Kremlin

Yuri Ushakov, the foreign affairs adviser to the Russian President, announced on Thursday that 24 leaders have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan later this month. He noted that leaders from nine member states will be present, including China’s Xi Jinping, Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian.

Ushakov mentioned that invitations were extended to 38 countries, encompassing both BRICS member states and those interested in collaborating with the bloc, during a news briefing in Moscow.

The BRICS alliance, established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2010, has recently expanded significantly. It now includes Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates, while Saudi Arabia is considering membership and Azerbaijan has submitted a formal application.
