364 inducted into Pharmacy Council

The Pharmacy Council of Ghana has welcomed 364 newly qualified registered pharmacists and encouraged them to accept postings in underserved areas of the country. Acting Registrar Dr. Daniel Amaning Danquah emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between urban and rural healthcare distribution to achieve SDG Three – Health and Wellbeing.

The induction ceremony in Accra featured graduates from various universities, including KNUST, UHAS, Central University, University of Ghana, and diaspora graduates. Attendees included Pharmacy Council Chairperson Doris Fosu-Hemaa Addae-Afoakwa, Rock Chemists Ltd CEO Thomas Boateng Appiagyei, and PSGH President Dr. Samuel Kow Donkoh.

Advice

Dr. Danquah advised the new pharmacists to focus on self-development, capacity-building, patient outcomes, and adherence to regulations. He emphasized the importance of upholding ethical pharmacy practices to ensure patient safety.

Standards
Mr. Appiagyei emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in pharmacy education and practice. According to him, health practitioners must strictly adhere to industry regulations.

Mrs. Addae-Afoakwa encouraged the new pharmacists to embrace digital technologies to enhance service delivery and accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs.
