CJ’s $5m bribery saga: It can drive investors away if not well- tackled- NDC
National Democratic Congress (NDC) is making a strong case that if firm decisions are not taken to handle the alleged $5million bribery issue involving the Chief Justice Anin Yeboah, has the tendency of driving investors away.
Lawyer Kwasi Afrifa has alleged that his former client Nana Ageadom Obranu Atta VI disclosed to him that Justice Anin Yeboah had engaged him to pay $ 5million to him to influence favourable outcomes of his case at the Supreme Court.
According to the opposition party, the firm manner with which the state handles cases involving a judge in Ghana can either boost confidence of investors in the country’s judiciary or scare them if they cannot get justice devoid of impartiality.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday 13 July 2021 in Accra, General Secretary of NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said “The Chief Justice’s alleged $5m bribery case if not well handled, can scare investors away because everyone foreign investors must have confidence in the judiciary before investing in Ghana”.
Asiedu Nketiah noted that “What many people don’t know is that every investor study the justice system of Ghana before coming to invest because if his company or investment gets a court case, he/she must be sure that he will get justice before proceeding to invest in Ghana “.
