“We’re yet to enstool chief at Adedome”- Regent Jomo
Regent of Agotime Adedome, Jomo Agbo has issued a stern warning to the chiefs of Agotime and the planning committee of Kente Festival that his town is still without a chief, and nobody should be recognized as a chief in any occasion, he is still in charge until a new chief is installed.
The Chief of Adedome of Nene Adela Tachie Tuaffo III, passed on last year after short illness and Jomo has since been acting.
There are group of people who are parading themselves as chiefs and elders, but are not recognized in the town and all the Agotime towns and villages.
Mr. Agbo Jomo, is cautioning the various chiefs that these people shouldn’t be recognized at any events as chiefs from Agotime Adedome.
“I’m sounding these words of caution to various chiefs of Agotime towns and villages and also the planning committee of the Kente Festival that our town hasn’t installed a new chief yet, since the passing of Nene Adela Tachie Tuaffo III”
“I’m the Regent and in charge of affairs. Anybody parading himself as a chief of Adedome must not be entertained” he said.
The Kente Festival after long break bounces back this year. It is the festival that showcase the traditional Kente cloth, how our forefathers started and how far it has come.
Various chiefs from Agotime towns and villages clad in the original Kente cloth and showcase it on the durbar ground.
Regent Jomo do not want anybody to be recognized as chief of Adedome in the celebration of the Festival.
“The planning committee of the Kente Festival should thread cautiously in order not to ruin the beautiful occasion and moment by recognizing illegality. We don’t have a chief and nobody should be recognized as our Chief in the celebration of the Festival. We are still planning for the late chief’s funeral and the right person will be installed”
Agotime Adedome once upon a time was a peaceful community which was even a reference point for others communities in Agotime.
But for the selfishness of some people in the community is now divided with bitterness.
But surely all shall pass and the community will bounce back.
A high life musician K K Fosu, once said “if you’ve not been installed as chief, and you conspired with others to get the crown to put on, nobody will recognize you”
These people were embarrassed and sacked from a ceremony to install a chief at Agotime Kpetoe this year.
They went there to represent the community even though they were not invited. They came back with egg all their faces.
Imagine calling yourself a chief, but nobody in the community recognizes you as such, how are you going to rule?
