Minimum wage increased by 10%
A tripartite committee made up of the National Labour Commission, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and Ghana Employers Association in unison have increased the wage by 10 percent which takes effect from 1st January, 2023.
During the meeting of implementation, the committee took into account the current economic challenges, high cost of living, sustainability of businesses, desirability of attaining high level of employment among others.
In a communique signed by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah and President of Ghana Employers Association, Daniel Acheampong noted that all establishments, Organisations, and institutions should abide and adjust to the new rate of GH¢ 14.88 pesewas, effective 1st January, 2023.
” Any of these establishments, Organisations or institutions that will flout the New Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law,” the communique stated.
