Hajia4Real faces more trouble over new evidence
Hajia4Real, a prominent Ghanaian socialite and influencer whose real name is Mona Montresi, is currently indicted in the United States for alleged involvement in a fraudulent scheme.
A 30-year-old woman has been accused of deceiving one of her victims by showing her a fake marriage certificate, according to a statement from the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
The certificate, which claims the victim was married to Hajia4Real of Ghana, was used to trick the victim into giving him $89,000.
Hajia4Real was first arrested in the UK last November and then extradited to the US for her prosecution.
MONTRAGE received money from multiple romance scam victims who tricked Enterprise members into sending money,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said on its website.
“The deception used to lure victims into sending money to MONTRAGE included (i) payments to transport gold from abroad to the United States; (ii) FBI unemployment reports; (iii) Payments to help counterfeit U.S. Army officers obtain funds from Afghanistan.”
The statement added:
“In regards to one victim, Montrei used his real name and spoke with the victim multiple times over the phone. sent to the person
“The victim sent approximately 82 transfers totaling approximately $89,000 to MONTRAGE to assist with expenses related to her MONTRAGE father’s farm in Ghana.
“In total, MONTRAGE controlled bank accounts from which he received more than $2 million in fraudulent funds from the company”.
Hajia4Real is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but if convicted he faces a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.
