Ability Fair 2021: Ex-Gender Minister seeks support for persons with disability

Former Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba has urged Ministry of Education to allocate quota of contracts on sewing of school uniforms for basic and second-cycle schools to persons with disabilities in Ghana.

According to her, persons with disabilities must be supported to optimise their potentials for the benefits of themselves and the citizenry.

Speaking in an interview monitored by African Editors on Wednesday 28 July 2021in Accra ahead Ability Fair 2021 scheduled for Friday and Saturday July 30 to 31 near Mikado Pharmacy, the Henry Djaba Foundation’s Executive Director Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba said “We are organizing heath screening for persons with disabilities, checking their sugar levels, eating competition and we’ve invited Dwowulu Special School for the Blind”.

Madam Otiko Djaba noted that “This is to shine spotlight on persons with disabilities and appreciate them for people to know that they are able to perform activities just us others will do. For me, person with disabilities are very brilliant“.

The latest benevolent project by the Former Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister to reach out to persons with disabilities is in line with the fact that they are endowed with talents that must be discovered and developed for benefits so they do not become burdens on society.

The Henry Djaba Foundation led by Madam Otiko Djaba has been on the forefront of reaching out to the poor, needy and vulnerable in society.
