CLOGSAG heads to SC over ‘politically-packed’ civil service
Executive Secretary of Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG),Isaac Bampoe Addo has reiterated that the association is in the process of filing a writ at the Supreme Court to challenge politically-exposed persons into the civil service.
He said the political appointees are employed into the service any requisite qualification and experience.
“CLOGSAG has instructed its lawyers to file a writ at the Supreme Court for redess”, he said.
He made reference to the Supreme court ruling on neutrality in June 2017, which made it clear that “No civil servant must owe or be seen to owe appointment or promotion to partisan activities since visible partisanship by civil servants would severely impair, if not destroy, the public perception of neutrality”
Mr. Bampoe Addo made this revelation at the end of year Thanksgiving Service organised by CLOGSAG at the Nathan Quao Hall in Accra.
The Executive Secretary further indicated that it is time for government to finalise negotiations on their salaries and other conditions of service in order to minimize the economic hardship confronting them due to the high prices in Tariffs, fuel, transport fares among others.
“the National Secretariate has also been inundated with petitions from the Regions regarding the completion of negotiations on the condition of service”, he added.
He therefore indicated that the National Executive Committee (EXECO) would convene immediately after the festivities to address the concerns.
Mr. Bampoe Addo outlined challenges like non-release of full approved budgetary allocations to MDA’s and MMDA’s which affects effective service delivery, practice of denying career civil servants their rightful progression by political appointees among others are hindrance to the service.
But, he also urged members of CLOGSAG to continue with the hard-work and work efficiently towards the development of the country.
Also, the Heads of Local Government Service, Civil Service and the President of CLOGSAG encouraged all members to develop the habit of patriotism and work assiduously in line of duty to achieve their targets during, before and after the year end.
Present at the ceremony were high-profile dignitaries, staff of CLOGSAG and Reverend Ministers and Live band who graced the occasion with gospel songs and praises.
