Govt delegation at Manhyia to beg Otumfuo for Chairman Wontumi
Government’s high-powered delegation is at Manhyia to plead for NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Antwi Bosiako known as Chairman Wontumi over alleged derogatory comments against Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ahead of parliamentary primaries scheduled for Saturday January 27, 2024. The Manhyia Palace summoned Chairman Wontumi over allegedly challenging the authority of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is important to anchor the point that apart from Chairman Wontumi’s comments, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has allegedly made provocative statements against the Asantehene, making it two separate matters currently being settled at the Manhyia Palace. The delegation was led by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.
Apologise to Otumfuo – Manhyia South NPP Chair to Nana B
The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Manhyia South Constituency, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, has given a stern warning to the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, demanding that he retracts his statements and apologizes for what he deems as a blatant spreading of falsehood. Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, had previously denied allegations that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), had disrespected the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Vetting.
In response, Nana B claimed that there was merely a misunderstanding between Chairman Wontumi and the Manhyia South Constituency Organizer, and that he himself did not witness any behaviour aimed at undermining the authority of the highly respected King.
However, the Chairman of Manhyia South strongly contradicted Nana B’s account and warned that if he failed to apologize for his alleged lies, he would unveil the true events that took place. The Chairman emphasized that with about 40 individuals present in the vetting room, the facts cannot remain concealed.
