2024 Polls: Fitch Solution predicts win for Mahama

Fitch Solution, a research and data firm based in the United Kingdom, has predicted that John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will win the presidential election on December 7.

According to Fitch, the state of the economy will play a significant role in voters’ choice. In a webinar announcing their findings, Senior Sub-Saharan Africa Country Risk Analyst Mike Kruiniger stated that the opposition candidate is ahead of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP. Fitch anticipates policy continuity in the region, with most incumbents expected to win, but highlights significant changes in key markets like South Africa and Ghana. The research suggests that anger over living standards in Ghana is giving Mahama an advantage in the polls.

However, Fitch also warns of potential instability due to insurgencies in Burkina Faso and Mali, which could negatively impact neighboring countries like Ivory Coast and Ghana.
