Nana Asantewaa Library to open in Kumasi by April 2024 

Officials from The Ashanti Regional Library located in Kumasi visited the Library about 2 weeks ago. Their mission was to assess and to determine what help they can offer the Library before we officially opening of the Library in March or April 2024.

The Ashanti Regional Library officials have agreed to do 3 things for the Old Tafo Library including the arrangement of the books professionally, provide labels for the different sections of the Library and hire a paid professional librarian for the Library at no cost to the Library. How about that! It important to anchor the point that Ashanti Regional Library officials were impressed with the mission, goals, objectives, programs and services, as well its Books and its Educational Videos Collections.

Currently, the Library can boast of educational videos on about 100 subjects and topics including Mathematics, Science, Electronics and Electricity, Astronomy and Cosmology, Statistics and Research, Economics and Management, Genetics, Cancer and Viruses. I am extremely proud of our small contribution to advancement of education and economic development in our motherland, Ghana.

Professor Nana Akwasi Dabankah Jumfuoh, from Old Tafo, Ashsnti– currently residing in Chicago, the Windy City, the land of Abraham Lincoln noted that ” I am extremely proud to say that as small as Our Library is, it has no comparison in Ghana. For starts, no Library in the whole of Ghana has Educational Videos like our little Old Tafo library– not even the University of Ghana Libray where I got my BA Honours Sociology degree in 1968″.

Prof. Jumfuoh noted that “Our Ĺibrary and Educational Videos Center is a model Library for a twenty first century Library for developing countries including Ghana”.

In addition to the the unique Educational Videos Collections, the model Library will provide inside the Library, classes and lessons in high school Science, Mathematics and Writing as well as University and College level classes in Statistics, Research and Demography.

Again, no library in Ghana provides such classes to its patrons.
Let’s praise the Lord for giving us the wisdom.and the financial resources to open the Library that I proudly named after my quintessential maternal grandmother, Nana Afua Asantewaa.
