We’re suffering -Kama Group Chair
Renowned Entrepreneur and Chairman of the Kama Group, Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo, has emphasized the difficult economic conditions faced by Ghanaians, stating that times are tough. Despite his success, the 70-year-old self-made businessman revealed that his pension plans have been derailed due to the government’s banking sector clean-up, leading to the loss of his savings accumulated over 30 years.
Dr. Addo expressed frustration with his financial situation, as he finds himself facing challenges with his expenses. He explained that either the Ghana Revenue Authority is pressuring him or the Electricity Company of Ghana is threatening to disconnect his power supply.
Speaking at a book launch, the inspirational figure, whose life story symbolizes overcoming adversity, lamented the hardships faced by many, concluding with the Akan word, ‘YƐƐbrƐ oo’, meaning ‘we are indeed suffering’.
Despite his struggles, Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a successful entrepreneur is well-documented. In 2022, at the age of 72, he attained a PhD in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Ghana, highlighting the importance of lifelong learning and the ability to achieve educational milestones at any stage of life.
Dr Addo’s dedication to continuous learning serves as a motivation for young individuals, emphasizing that age should not be a barrier to pursuing education and personal growth.
