Dec 7 polls: IGP warns public against electoral misconduct

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to the public against any form of electoral misconduct as the December elections approach. He emphasized that individuals caught engaging in unlawful activities will face the full force of the law.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new police station in Akyem-Manso, Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare reassured citizens that the police are fully prepared to maintain peace and order during the election period.

He outlined measures in place to monitor and address potential disturbances early, stressing that any attempt to disrupt the elections will be met with swift action.

“Do not be tempted to cause trouble during the elections. My officers will take immediate action against any wrongdoing,” he cautioned.

He further warned that those who incite violence or chaos will abandon those they lead into trouble once law enforcement steps in, leaving them to face the consequences alone.

Dr. Dampare urged voters to exercise their rights responsibly and with respect, emphasizing the need for peaceful conduct and respect for the electoral process.

He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring a safe, secure environment for free and fair elections, stating, “We are fully prepared, and I can confidently assure you that the elections will be peaceful.” He called on all Ghanaians to contribute to safeguarding the integrity of the democratic process.
