Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi unveils new book on civil procedure precedents for lawyers and judges
Isaac Minta Larbi, a private legal practitioner and the Head of Chambers at The Law Office of Isaac M. Larbi, Okore Chambers, based in Adweso, has released a new book titled Civil Procedure Precedents. This book serves as a practical guide for lawyers, particularly those in private practice, as well as judges who deal with civil cases in Ghana’s legal system.
Young lawyers, especially those newly entering private practice, often face significant challenges as they navigate the complexities of legal proceedings. One of the most critical resources they need is access to precedents—decisions from previous cases that help inform and shape the legal process. Without these, lawyers may find it difficult to properly represent their clients, making their practice more challenging.
Even lawyers working in the corporate sector, who rarely appear in court, may occasionally need to file legal documents or represent clients in civil matters. In such situations, having access to relevant precedents can be the key to preparing the correct legal processes for court proceedings.
Lawyers in Ghana, particularly those involved in criminal law at the Attorney General’s Department, may not often handle civil cases. However, when they do, Civil Procedure Precedents will prove invaluable in guiding them through the complexities of civil litigation.
With this in mind, Isaac Minta Larbi has published his book as a vital reference tool for legal practitioners and judges, not only in Ghana but across borders. The book has been widely endorsed by leading figures in the legal profession, including judges, attorneys, and legal academics.
Professor E. K. Abotsi, Dean of the UPSA Law School, praised the book, noting that “particularly in an era of diverse styles and approaches, this book will aid in standardizing and potentially harmonizing the legal forms and processes used in ongoing litigation.”
In his statement, Lawyer Larbi expressed his excitement about the release, emphasizing that the book contains a wealth of precedents that will simplify the process of preparing legal documents for court. In addition to civil procedure precedents, the book also includes bonus sections on Company Secretary Precedents and Criminal Procedure Precedents, making it a comprehensive resource for legal practitioners.
