John Dumelo starts MP job with free bus rides for UG students

John Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon in the Greater Accra Region, has launched his tenure with a generous gesture: providing free bus rides for University of Ghana, Legon students traveling home for the Christmas holidays.

This initiative serves as a token of appreciation for the students’ overwhelming support in the December 7 parliamentary elections, where Dumelo triumphed with a decisive victory. His win, which was particularly strong at polling centers across the University of Ghana, saw him unseat incumbent MP Lydia Alhassan, fulfilling his long-held ambition of representing the constituency in Parliament.

The free bus service will run on Saturday, December 21, 2024, with routes covering major cities including Kumasi, Ejisu, Konongo, Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Winneba, and Elmina. The buses will depart from the Volta Hall car park, the designated pick-up point for students.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Dumelo expressed his gratitude, saying, “Dear Legon students, let me take you back home free for your Xmas holidays.”
