Trobu Constituent seeks court order to bar Gloria Owusu from holding herself as MP-elect

A constituent from Trobu, Jacob Edem Nuworsah, has filed a motion in the High Court seeking to stop Gloria Owusu from holding herself as Member of Parliament-elect.

The motion challenges the legitimacy of Owusu’s victory in the December 7 parliamentary election, citing alleged irregularities and inconsistencies in the electoral process that have raised doubts about the validity of the results.

Nuworsah is asking the court to issue an injunction to bar Owusu from acting as MP-elect until the case is resolved.

Owusu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, was declared the winner of the Trobu seat, defeating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate. However, the legal action questions the integrity of the election process, including the handling and declaration of results.

The petitioner is requesting an order for the re-collation of the results in the Trobu constituency.

The motion further seeks an interlocutory injunction to prevent the first respondent from holding herself out as a Member of Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana until the final resolution of the case.
