Parliament to vet ministerial nominees Monday

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will start the vetting of ministerial nominees on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 9:00 am. This follows the recent announcement of three high-profile nominations for key ministries.

In a statement released on January 10, 2025, the Committee confirmed its readiness to evaluate the qualifications and suitability of the following Minister-designates:

Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson for the Ministry of Finance

John Abdulai Jinapor for the Ministry of Energy

Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General

Dr. Forson, an esteemed economist, is tasked with addressing Ghana’s financial challenges. John Jinapor, with his extensive background in the energy sector, is expected to lead efforts to stabilize and grow the country’s energy supply. Dr. Ayine, a distinguished legal expert, will oversee reforms in justice administration and legal governance.

The vetting process provides an opportunity for Ghanaians to evaluate the nominees’ visions and strategies for their respective ministries.

The Appointments Committee’s assessment will determine whether Parliament approves or rejects the nominations.
