Mahama submits list of 10 regional minister-nominees to parliament

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted a list of 10 regional minister-nominees to Parliament for approval. The letter to the Speaker of Parliament outlines the President’s choices for these key positions across various regions.

This move is part of President Mahama’s broader efforts to reorganize his administration following his return to office. As part of these changes, the President has already announced a reduction in the number of government ministries, from 29 to 23, as part of an initiative to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.

The document submitted to Parliament includes the names of 10 individuals nominated to lead regions in Ghana, with a formal request for parliamentary approval in line with constitutional requirements.

The nominees are as follows:

Greater Accra: Linda Ocloo

Northern: Ali Adolf John

Oti: John Kwadwo Gyapong

Volta: James Gunu

Eastern: Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey

North-East: Ibrahim Tia

Ashanti: Dr. Frank Amoakohene

Upper East: Akamugri Donatus Atanga

Ahafo: Charity Gardiner

Savannah: Salisu Bi-Awuribe

It remains unclear why the minister-nominees for the remaining six regions have not been announced yet.

In Bawku today, President Mahama also revealed that appointments for key ministerial and security positions are in progress to address the ongoing conflict. He stated, “This week, we will appoint the Minister of Defence, Minister of Interior, National Security Adviser, National Security Coordinator, BNI Director, and others.”

The President emphasized that these appointments would prioritize the resolution of the Bawku situation, urging residents to remain patient as his administration works towards a lasting solution.
