SC adjourns NDC’s suit against High Court order over disputed parliamentary results indefinitely

The Supreme Court has adjourned indefinitely the National Democratic Congress (NDC) case challenging a High Court ruling that directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to finalize and declare parliamentary results in four constituencies: Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North.

The NDC had approached the Supreme Court to overturn the High Court’s January 4 decision, which granted a mandamus application filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The ruling instructed the EC to complete the collation of results for the four constituencies and announce the winners. Following the ruling, the EC has re-collated the results for three constituencies—Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South—with only Ablekuma North still pending.

Despite this, the NDC filed another suit asking the Supreme Court to reverse the High Court’s decision.

When the case was heard today, it was revealed that the NDC had not served the NPP candidates involved in the case. As a result, the Supreme Court has adjourned the matter indefinitely to allow time for the necessary parties to be served.
