Ablakwa meets Ghana’s longest- serving Foreign Minister
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Minister Designate, has held a meeting with Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah, the country’s longest-serving Foreign Minister, to discuss a range of matters following his appointment.
Dr. Asamoah, now 89, served as Foreign Minister for 16 years from 1981 to 1997 during the Rawlings administration. He is also the only person to have held both the positions of Foreign Minister and Attorney-General/Minister of Justice simultaneously.
Ablakwa shared the news on Facebook on Saturday, January 25, stating, “It has been a true honor to visit and consult with Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah, Ghana’s longest-serving Foreign Minister.”
He continued, “I’m deeply grateful to this remarkable statesman and member of the NDC’s Council of Elders for welcoming me into his home, offering his encouragement, blessings, and valuable insights. His perspectives were nothing short of a masterclass.”
Ablakwa also noted, “It was refreshing to hear him express confidence in President Mahama’s ability to achieve his foreign policy goals. God bless all the outstanding patriots who’ve paved the way for the next generation.”
