Dr. Yusif Sulemana appointed new MD of TOR

Energy strategist Dr. Yusif Sulemana has been appointed the new Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

According to sources close to TOR, Dr. Sulemana officially assumed his position on Monday, February 10, 2025, following a warm reception by the refinery’s management team.

Dr. Sulemana is a highly skilled Energy Management Strategist with more than 20 years of experience spanning the Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream sectors of the energy industry. His expertise covers petroleum, power, and alternative energy, with particular emphasis on oil and gas production, refinery process optimization, and troubleshooting.

Prior to taking up his current role at TOR, Dr. Sulemana served as a Senior Oil & Gas Production Operations Specialist at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in Oman. His career also includes roles as Project Manager (Gasification) at Genser Energy and Chemical/Process Engineer at Tema Oil Refinery.

Dr. Sulemana holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Energy Management) from the USA, an MSc in International Oil & Gas Management from the UK, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from KNUST, Ghana.

In addition to his technical expertise, he is a committed advocate for STEM education and mentoring the next generation of energy professionals. His leadership in the energy sector has earned him recognition, including the Energy Advocate of the Year award at the Ghana Energy Awards.
