Yaw Owusu Obimpeh wins Ashanti Regional Council of State election

Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, has emerged as the winner of the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, securing a commanding 49 votes.

The results, announced on Monday, February 17, 2025, showed Obimpeh leading by a wide margin. Nkansah Boadu Nana Ayeboafo followed with 35 votes, while Daniel Anarfi Yamoah received just 1 vote. No other candidates received votes.

Out of the 86 total votes, 85 were valid, with no ballots being rejected. The outcome signifies a strong endorsement of Obimpeh’s candidacy by the voters in the Ashanti Region.

Obimpeh’s victory follows the suspension of last week’s election, which was marred by chaos during the voting process.
