CEMSE rejects NVF’s procurement allegations against VRA Acting CEO

The Centre for Environment Management and Sustainable Energy (CEMSE) has dismissed the procurement breach allegations made against Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority (VRA), calling them groundless and without merit.

The accusations, brought by the New Volta Forum (NVF), were described as unfounded by CEMSE’s Executive Director, Mr. Benjamin Nsiah. He clarified that Ing. Obeng-Kenzo is not involved in the procurement processes at VRA. “These claims by NVF are baseless. Ing. Obeng-Kenzo is not the procurement officer and has no direct role in VRA’s procurement activities,” Mr. Nsiah emphasized.

Mr. Nsiah also criticized NVF for spreading misinformation without adequate verification. “Some of the concerns raised by the group show a lack of proper research. A simple inquiry with the Public Procurement Authority would confirm that Mr. Obeng-Kenzo’s role is advisory, not operational, in procurement matters,” he added.

In response to questions about political affiliations, Mr. Nsiah emphasized that qualifications and competence should be the focus. “If the President believes that Mr. Obeng-Kenzo is the right person to lead the VRA, it should not matter whether he is NPP or NDC. What is important is that he is a qualified Ghanaian,” he concluded.

His comments were made during a recent interview on Accra-based Kessben FM.
