Transmission line damaged, repairs underway
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that the 161kV transmission line connecting Aboadze to Tarkwa has sustained damage. The line, managed by the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo), is a critical infrastructure component for electricity distribution in the region.
In response, GRIDCo’s maintenance team has been swiftly deployed to the affected site. The team is currently working round the clock to restore the line and ensure power stability.
Potential Power Disruptions in Affected Areas
Due to the damage, the Ministry has cautioned that there may be temporary disruptions in power supply, particularly in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions. Key areas that could be affected include Kumasi and Tarkwa.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant agencies to mitigate the impact on residents and businesses in these regions.

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has assured the public that every effort is being made to expedite repairs and return the transmission line to full operational capacity.
