IGP, AG sued severally over 2020 poll deaths
IGP, Attorney General and Minister of Justice have been sued separately by families whose relatives died or sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds, injuries during chaotic scenes and violet clashes that occurred in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The first suit was filed by Edmund Ayaric who claimed that his son was murdered in cold blood at Techiman South collation center upon violent clashes.
Apart from seeking justice for the killing of his innocent son, Ayaric is demanding 10 million cedis compensation.
The second suit was filed by six Techiman residents who claimed that they sustained gunshot wounds during the chaotic scenes that broke out during the 2020 polls.
Aside pressing charges against IGP and AG to demand justice for injuries suffered, they are demanding several compensations.
Out of the six, one is demanding 5 million cedis whilst the remaining 5 are demanding 2 million cedis each.
In the interim, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been requested of by two Members of Parliament to quickly examine the demise of seven people during the 2020 decisions.
The two are North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa along with Elembelle MP and previous Energy Minister Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah.

Addressing the media in the wake of introducing the request to CHRAJ, the previous Deputy Education Minister Ablakwa cautioned government against political impedance by officialdom in the issues of CHRAJ on the matter.
