Current Black Star players focus on money instead of football- Charles Taylor
Former Black Stars Player, Charles Taylor has taken a swipe at the current Black Star players after their abysmal performance yesterday at the FNB Stadium that saw them succumbed to 1-0 defeat to Bafabafana of South African in the World Cup qualifiers match.
In the second match of the World Cup qualifier, Ghana Black Stars painfully lost 1-0 to South Africa on Monday, which has generated loads of reactions from Ghanaians, with some calling for the head of the head coach.
Taylor who was part the squad that overcomes South Africa to qualify for the 2006 world Cup who spoke to Saddick Adams on Angel Sports, thinks the right players are not being called into the team. The current crop of players are money diggers, they focus on the monetary aspects rather than game.
He also mentioned some players who plays locally and can easily make it into the Black Stars but are not being given the chance because of some selfish interest from officials.
“the current Black Stars players follow money rather than football, let be honest. It’s only in Ghana that their best player and top scorer in the league will not get call up into the national team. Gladson Awako can play better in the midfield compare to what Wakasu Mubarak is doing now. Wakasu gives wrong passes and his tackles create even more problems for the team. If you talk about them they think you hate them, it’s not about hatred we all want the best for the team” he said.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars has now slipped to the second position on the table with three points with South Africa sitting comfortably at the top with four points.
