A Plus threatens to expose alleged perpetrator in Ahmed Suale murder
Musician and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has issued a strong call for updates on the ongoing investigation into the 2019 murder of journalist Ahmed Suale.
In a post on Facebook, A Plus shared that he was invited to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters last year, where he provided vital information regarding the case. According to A Plus, he identified a former government minister as the individual who allegedly hired the attackers responsible for the crime. He also revealed that he disclosed the identity of his “highly credible” source during a meeting with the CID director.
Frustrated by the lack of progress in the case, A Plus expressed concerns that the investigation may have been neglected. He called on the CID director to update the public on the case’s status and to clarify whether additional time is needed to finalize the investigation.
“It is essential for the CID director to provide an update on the investigation’s progress,” A Plus emphasized. “At this point, it seems as though the case has been sidelined.”
Ultimatum and threats
The MP has given the Ghana Police Service a 48-hour ultimatum to provide an update on the investigation. He warned that failure to do so would prompt him to use his parliamentary position to formally summon the police to brief Parliament on the matter.
“If no update is given within 48 hours, I will use my authority as a Member of Parliament to summon the Ghana Police Service to brief Parliament on the case,” A Plus stated.
Should his efforts to get an update fail, A Plus threatened to use his social media platforms to disclose what he knows about the case, including revealing the name of the alleged perpetrator.
“Should they fail to provide an update, I will share what I know on social media, including the name of the alleged perpetrator,” he warned.
