Acting VRA CEO Obeng-Kenzo pays courtesy call on NPG and BPA
Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, the Acting Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), has emphasized the need for collaboration between VRA and Nuclear Power Ghana (NPG) to strengthen energy security in the country.
During a courtesy visit to NPG’s headquarters in Accra, Mr. Obeng-Kenzo expressed his commitment to building stronger relationships with key stakeholders in the energy sector.
Dr. Stephen Yamoah, Executive Director of Nuclear Power Ghana, welcomed the visit and highlighted the importance of closer ties with VRA, particularly in the development of low-carbon energy to address Ghana’s energy demands.
In response, Mr. Obeng-Kenzo assured NPG of VRA’s readiness to work closely together on initiatives aimed at power generation and energy security.
Additionally, the VRA Acting CEO used the opportunity to visit the Bui Power Authority (BPA), where NPG is based at BPA Heights, further fostering connections within the energy sector.
Nuclear Power Ghana (NPG), established in 2018, serves as the Owner/Operator for Ghana’s proposed first Nuclear Power Plant. It was registered under the Companies Code of Ghana in July 2019 as a Limited Liability Company and is headquartered at BPA Heights II in Accra.
As the Owner/Operator, NPG is tasked with overseeing project development, feasibility studies, plant and site licensing, regulatory compliance, construction, commissioning, and ensuring the plant’s operation, maintenance, and decommissioning align with international standards.
NPG’s operations began with the secondment of staff from VRA, Bui Power Authority (BPA), and the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC), forming the company’s initial core team.
