Afenyo-Markin sworn-in as ECG Board Chair
The newly appointed Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Alexander Afenyo-Markin, stressed the importance of addressing the challenges facing the power distributor. His remarks came after the outgoing Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, officially inaugurated him as the new Board Chairman of ECG, following his appointment by President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday.
In his acceptance speech, Afenyo-Markin acknowledged the progress made by the government in improving electricity provision but noted that there is still more work to be done. He expressed his dedication to building on the existing reforms and introducing new innovations to further enhance the operations of ECG.
Afenyo-Markin appointed Board Chair of ECG
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, as the new Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The appointment was officially announced in a letter signed by the President’s Secretary, Ambassador Nana Asante Bediatuo.
Afenyo-Markin takes over from Herbert Krapa, who has been appointed as the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry. Krapa had assumed the role after the resignation of Keli Gadzekpo on March 26.
