Agnes Yeboah: A journey of resilience, passion, and purpose

Agnes Yeboah is not just an extraordinary woman; she is a symbol of resilience, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. From a seamstress to a nurse, from a Queen Mother to a dedicated medical laboratory scientist, her journey embodies the power of determination and the beauty of self-discovery.

At the recent Pharmastrust Professional College graduation ceremony, Agnes was celebrated as the Overall Best Student—an achievement that came as the culmination of years of hard work, self-sacrifice, and the unwavering desire to better herself and serve her community. Standing as the Valedictorian, she shared an inspiring speech, recounting her story of perseverance and growth, a narrative that resonated deeply with her fellow graduates, faculty, and guests.

“I began my educational journey in Nsawam, where I attended kindergarten before moving straight to class one,” Agnes began in her heartfelt speech. “Life took a new turn when my family relocated to Winneba, and from there, I began to build the foundations of who I am today.” Her story is one of transformation, from a young student striving to be the best to a woman who has found her calling in service, both in health and leadership.

Though the path Agnes walked was never easy, she demonstrated an unyielding commitment to her dreams. After finishing secondary school, she surprised many by choosing to pursue sewing instead of immediately advancing to further academic studies. However, this was merely a detour. “I realized that my heart was set on further education,” Agnes reflected. And so began a journey marked by balance and sacrifice.

As she continued her studies, balancing nursing with medical laboratory science, Agnes faced the daunting challenge of working while studying. She worked as a nurse in the morning, a lab technician in the afternoon, and still made time for lectures. Each day presented a new hurdle, but Agnes pushed forward, motivated by a deep desire to serve her community with the knowledge she was gaining. This dedication paid off when she was recognized as the overall best student at Pharmastrust Professional College—a testament to her passion for both education and healthcare.

Agnes’s accomplishments do not end with her professional certifications. She is also a Queen Mother, a role she cherishes deeply. Despite the responsibilities that come with being a leader in her community, she continues her academic pursuits, currently studying public health to expand her impact. “Today, I am proud to say that I have completed my education and returned to my hometown to serve as a Queen Mother,” she shared, her voice filled with gratitude.

Her message to the graduates and those facing hardships was clear: “Never let circumstances define your future. Push harder, believe in yourself, and trust the process.” Agnes’s words are a reminder that no matter the obstacles, perseverance and belief in oneself can lead to success.

In her speech, Agnes also took the opportunity to thank the people who had supported her along the way. To her lecturers, she expressed her gratitude for their dedication and mentorship, saying, “You saw potential in us even when we doubted ourselves.” To her family, she acknowledged their love and sacrifices, emphasizing that this achievement was as much theirs as it was hers.

As for her fellow graduates, Agnes closed her speech with a message of unity and encouragement: “Together, we have experienced highs and lows, successes and failures. We have learned not just from textbooks, but from each other. We have grown together, shaped by each other’s perspectives, dreams, and values.”

Agnes Yeboah’s story is one of growth, transformation, and determination. It is a reminder to all that no matter the starting point, with grit, passion, and a willingness to serve, anyone can change their life and their community for the better.
