Akufo-Addo makes Deputy Chief of Staff Amb-at-Large
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has swoin in Deputy Chief of Staff, Fawaz Aliu, and two others as new Ambassadors.
Mr Aliu has been appointed Ambassador-At-Large in addition to his current position.
The lastest appointment follows the President naming his Executive Secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante, as an Ambassador-at-Large two months ago.
Nana Bediatuo Asante, who has been the President’s Executive Secretary since 2017, received his new role at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House. President Akufo-Addo also presented credentials to nine newly appointed diplomats at the event, urging them to actively promote Ghana’s image and interests internationally.
During the latest ceremony at the Jubilee House on August 7, President Akufo-Addo appointed Major General Charles Kojo Abedi Awity as Ghana’s Ambassador to Serbia, and Mr Peprah Ampratwum as Ambassador In-Situ.
An Ambassador in situ is someone who is consistently present and actively involved in key events or decision-making processes. They are perceived as a pivotal figure, influencing outcomes.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that the new Ambassadors will excel in their new roles, strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic efforts globally.
He encouraged them to deepen ties between Ghana and other countries and create connections with investment opportunities.
Major General Abedi, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, vowed to serve Ghana with excellence.
Some Ghanaians have raised concerns about the timing and necessity of these appointments, criticizing them as insensitive during current economic challenges.
Given ongoing calls for the President to reduce the size of government, these new appointments have sparked conversations.
