Akufo-Addo, Quattara meet Guinea coup makers in Conakry

Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo in his capacity as the Chair of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of States and Government together with Ivorian President Allasane Quattara today arrived at Conakry in Guinea to communicate the position of the regional block to military junta led by Lt. Col. Mamady Doumbouya.

This latest visit by some ECOWAS Heads is taking place after extraordinary summit in Accra the capital, Ghana.

It is expected that this visit by heads of the regional block will usher-in discussions with the military junta in Guinea in line with a communique issued by ECOWAS yesterday.

ECOWAS Heads resolved to impose sanctions on Guinea Junta including freezing their personal financial accounts and traveling ban.

Apart from that, ECOWAS has directed Guinea coup makers to hold fresh elections within six months to usher-in a constitutional rule.
