Appointments of 2 NCA Deputy Directors-General revoked

The government has dismissed Olivia Okailey Quartey and Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng from their positions as Deputy Directors-General at the National Communications Authority (NCA) as part of a leadership overhaul.

Ms. Quartey, who served as Deputy Director-General in charge of Managerial Operations, and Prof. Yeboah-Boateng, who held the role of Deputy Director-General for Technical Operations, were both instrumental in overseeing key aspects of Ghana’s telecommunications and broadcasting regulatory framework.

While the government has not provided specific reasons for their dismissal, the move is seen as a part of the ongoing restructuring effort by the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration. The changes are aimed at strengthening the NCA’s ability to address emerging challenges in the rapidly evolving telecommunications sector.

In the wake of the dismissals, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko as the Acting Director-General of the NCA. The appointment was officially confirmed on January 23, 2025, via the NCA’s website.
