ATU, Abrantie College sign MoU to train artisans on use of modern technologies

Abrantie College, a leading Ghanaian institute specializing in fashion, cosmetology, and catering, has partnered with Accra Technical University (ATU) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic partnership aims to provide artisans of Abrantie College with expertise in utilizing modern technologies in the fields of fashion and cosmetology.

The agreement, signed in Accra on September 12, 2024, signifies a new era of collaboration in academic training and capacity building initiatives. The partnership between ATU and Abrantie College seeks to drive innovation, enhance quality education, and empower the next generation of leaders in fashion design, cosmetology, and catering with knowledge of modern technologies.

Under this partnership, students who successfully complete certificate 1 and certificate 2 at Abrantie College will have the opportunity to further their studies at ATU, where a new cosmetology department is being established thanks to Abrantie College’s assistance.

The integration of modern technologies such as 3D printing, CAD, and AI in the fashion and beauty industries is transforming the way products are designed and produced. By adopting these technologies, African artisans can enhance their skills and competitiveness on a global scale.

Prof. Acakpovi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of ATU, highlighted the importance of training individuals on modern equipment within the fashion industry. Mr. Thompson of Abrantie College commended the collaboration with ATU as a significant step forward and pledged to elevate the fashion and cosmetology sectors in Ghana.
