CAF official dies upon chaos in Ghana-Nigeria WC clash
An official of the Confederation of African Football has lost his life after Ghana’s World Cup playoff game against Supper Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, 29 March 2022.
Dr. Joseph Kabungo, a Zambian medical practitioner, is reported to have lost consciousness upon chaotic scenes erupted by Nigerian supporters after the Black Stars qualified for the World Cup ahead of the Super Eagles on their home soil on away goal rule of 1-1 draw with Nigeria, Africa’s populous country.

The Nigerian supporters stormed the pitch and destroyed everything in their way.
The riot caused the security to fire teargas to control the situation.
It is alleged that Dr. Kabungo was beaten and trampled as fans stampeded their way out of the stadium.
Dr. Kabungo was CAF’s designated Doping Officer for the game between Ghana and Nigeria. His death was confirmed at the hospital.
