Auntie Muni, also known as Auntie Imoro Muniratu, passed away at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra on Wednesday, January 3, after a brief illness. In an interview, Auntie Muni’s son, Alhassan Abdul Arafat, shared that his mother had been ill and was initially admitted to the SNNIT Hospital. However, due to complications, she was transferred to the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Sadly, at 3 am this morning, Auntie Muni passed away.
Auntie Muni was an iconic figure in the culinary world, and her waakye stand was beloved by both locals and visitors. Not only was the food delicious, but Auntie Muni’s warm and welcoming presence created a special atmosphere at her stand. As news of her passing spreads, tributes are pouring in, highlighting the impact she had on the community. The family has disclosed that the funeral and burial will be held in Tamale, as a way to honor Auntie Muni’s memory and lasting legacy.
