Chef Failatu hits 227-hr record-breaking cook-a-thon

Ghanaian chef, Failatu Abdul-Razak, successfully completed a 227-hour cook-a-thon in just 10 days at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale. Her aim was to set a new Guinness World Record, showcasing her exceptional skills and diversity in cooking by preparing a wide range of dishes influenced by the rich culture of the Northern Region.

As the stopwatch hit the 227th hour on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, supporters at the venue praised Failatu’s achievement. Starting on New Year’s Day, she aimed to break the current longest cooking marathon record of 119 hours set by Alan Fisher.

However, she exceeded expectations by cooking for an astounding 227 hours, 2 minutes, and 2 seconds. Failatu was overwhelmed with emotion and could not hold back her tears, receiving a warm embrace from her assistant, Malik Eric. Another chef, Dorcus Mirembe, also attempted to break the record by cooking for 144 hours and is now awaiting validation from Guinness World Records.

The organization has acknowledged Failatu’s marathon and looks forward to reviewing her evidence.
