Cherryfield Montessori Sch holds 7th graduation, speech & prize-giving day

Chief Executive Officer of Cherryfield Montessori School, Madam Magdalene Dzifa Adzanu has urged the book runners of institutions to heavily invest in capacity building and in-service training for teachers. According to her, technology has taken the world by the storm, demanding urgent upgrade of intellectual capacities of teachers to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

The theme for the 7th Graduation, Speech and Prize-giving Day of Cherryfield Montessori School is “The role of parents in the career development and decision makingof their wards”.

Speaking at 7th Graduation, Speech and Prize-giving Day of Cherryfield Montessori School, Chief Executive Officer Madam Magdalene Dzifa Adzanu charged parents to play critical roles in the career development and decision making of their wards.

Magadalene Dzifa Adzanu has also appealed to policy makers not to reduce the educational sector to experimental grounds for unpopular policies.

“Politicians must leave educational sector for educational experts to takeover and we’ll see the benefits in Ghana because we have a very good syllabus”, she noted.

She believes teaching of Mathematics, Science, ICT and English language remains a priority.

Contributing to the discussion, Associate Professor of Geospatial and Environmental Science at University of Development Studies (UDS) who chaired the graduation, speech and Prize-giving ceremony charged parents to guide the children and allow them free will to make career choices. According to him, the phenomenon where parents forced career of their choice on children is completely wrong.

“Observe your child and guide him on what she like doing. Career is about what the child likes doing. Don’t force your child to complete what you couldn’t do”.

Associate Professor of Geospatial and Environmental Science at University of Development Studies (UDS) says improvements and sustainability of government’s Free SHS policy will need concerted supports from Parent-Teacher Associations in schools.

Empirical evidence shows that high enrolment rates culminated in teacher shortages, increased workload for existing teachers, classroom deficits, overcrowding in class, high rate of indiscipline, inadequate teaching, learning materials and delays in the supply of funds are deep-seated problems facing the Free SHS policy.

Speaking on the sidelines of Cherryfield Montessori School’s Graduation, Speech and Prize-giving Day, the Licensed Surveyor and UDS Professor Prosper B. Laari charged Parents-Teacher Associations to assist management of schools in delivering quality education with focus on Science, Maths, ICT to improve socio-economic development of Ghana.

Professor Prosper B. Laari has also appealed to President Akufo-Addo and teacher unions including GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT to engage and soften their stance on the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah as GES Boss whilst urging government to address grievance of UTAG to call of their strike.

Cherryfield Montessori School awarded some of the graduands and staff members who distinguished themselves either academically or professionally.

Cherryfield Montessori School remains crowned Champions of 2021 and 2022 GA West Municipal BSTEM Quiz Competition.
