CJ renames Divorce and Matrimonial Courts as Family Courts

According to a release from the Judicial Secretary, Her Ladyship Cynthia Pamela Addo Koranteng, Divorce and Matrimonial Courts in Ghana will now be known as Family Courts. This change is to better reflect the wider range of issues that fall under Family Law, including adoption and child maintenance.

The letter addressed to all Judges and Staff of the Judicial Service explains the rationale behind the change and states that the re-designation will take effect from May 6, 2024. The notice from the Judicial Secretary is attached below for reference.
