CJ’s $5m bribery saga: ASEPA petitions Akufo-Addo to remove CJ

The troubles of the Learned Head of the Judiciary deepens as a Civil Society Group ASEPA has petitioned President Akufo-Addo to immediately remove Chief Justice His Lordship Kwasi Anin Yeboah from office pending investigations into $5 million allegation involving him, Ghanaian Lawyer Kwasi Afrifa and Nana Ogyeedom Obranu Atta VI.

Speaking after his petition to the President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday 13 July 2021 in Accra, Executive Director of ASEPA Mensah Thompson said “What we have done is for the president to refer the petition to a committee for the Chief Justice to step down before investigation takes place in line with the constitution”

Mr. Thompson noted that
“The Chief Justice, being in office means it will difficult for proper and transparent investigation to be conducted into the matter because the CJ is the Head of the Judiciary, Chair of the General Legal Council”.
