Covid-19 : Be transparent, looming battle is coming- Prof. Binka to Gov’t

Former Vice Chancellor of University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and Dean of University of Ghana School of Public Health Prof. Fred Binka has urged government to be transparent in its approach to contain, combat and prevent the spread of infectious Covid-19.

Ghana’s confirmed Covid-19 cases currently stand at 97,130 and 94,349 recoveries with 799 deaths as at July 11, 2021.

According to Prof. Binka, there is a pending battle Ghana will be confronted with in the fight against Covid-19 and government alone cannot tackle it.

Speaking in an interview monitored by African Editors on Sunday 11 July 2021 in Accra, the Epidemiologist Prof. Binka warned “All ICUs in Accra are full, there are no beds, many people are breaching covid-19 safety protocols and many are not wearing face masks”.

Prof. Binka noted that “Be transparent, there is a looming battle coming and government, health minister can’t fight this epidemic alone. We have to do better than we are doing”.
