David Asante replaces unwell Nkwakaw MP

The national leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in consultation with the National Council, has decided to replace Joseph Frempong, the current Member of Parliament for Nkwakaw in the Eastern Region, ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections. The decision was made during an emergency meeting in Accra on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, due to Mr. Frempong’s ill health preventing him from participating in campaign activities.

David Asante, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited and a native of Nkwakaw, has been selected as the NPP’s new candidate for the Nkwakaw Constituency. Despite previously losing to Mr. Frempong in the party’s parliamentary primaries in January 2024, Mr. Asante is now tasked with leading the NPP’s efforts to secure the Nkwakaw seat in the upcoming general elections.
