Don’t leave Chiefs breaching road safety laws off the hook- Otumfuo to MTTD

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has asked Road Safety Authority and the Police Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) to discharge their mandate without dread or favour, urging that chiefs who breach road safety rules must not be left off the hook.

Otumfuo who is disappointed with the rising road clashes, fatalities and indiscipline among private and business vehicle drivers, asked the security angecies to arrest any Chief or individual who disregard road safety laws regardless of the individual’s status in the country.

“It has become obvious that Nananom are essential for indisciplined vehicular driving in the religion. The police and road security authorities are reluctant to arrest them since they have my photograph and Manhyia stickers embellished on their vehicles. Note that my sticker isn’t a permit and I have not guided anyone to utilize my sticker as a driving permit for which reason they feel large to stop at police designated spots,” he said.

Otumfuo added that “Police and National Road Safety Authority, I haven’t gave out any paper to you that my sticker is a permit so take care of your job. In the event that you see any head driving without protection essentially arrest him, nothing more.”

He added “I don’t have any sticker decorated on my vehicle along these lines if you capture an individual and the individual says he is from Manhyia in light of the fact that my image is embellished on his vehicle, carry him to the royal residence and let check whether that vehicle is mine”.

Otumfuo provided the request throughout the end of the week when staff from the road wellbeing authority paid a civility call on him at Manhyia Palace.

The incidence of road accident has become a source of worry in Ghana to its danger lives, property and national economy.
