Ejura Probe C’ttee: We’ll be open-minded in our recommendations & report- Justice Koomson
Chairman of the committee investigating the killings at Ejura by the military His Lordship Justice George Kingsley Koomson says the committee will be open-minded in crafting recommendations and report to be presented to the Interior Minister in consonance with its mandate whilst stamping its authority.
Justice Koomson told Journalists on Friday 18 July 2021 at Kumasi that “We’ll be open-minded in our recommendations and report. Our duty is to examine the evidence before us and present our report”.
Justice George Kingsley Koomson-led Committee tasked by Interior Minister Ambrose Dery is expected to produce report on the unfortunate shooting incidence at Ejura in the Ashanti Region after it wrapped up sitting today.
The committee was formed after chaotic scene broke out between the police, military and unarmed protestors of Ejura upon the murder of Kaaka leading to the death of two residents with two others sustaining severe gunshot injuries.
The Committee Chaired by Appeal Court Justice Koomson also include International Relations Expert Prof. Vladimir Antwi-Danso and Executive Director of Penplusbytes Juliet Amoah as members and Louis Simmons as Secretary.
Speaking at the final sitting of the committee the Chair His Lordship Justice Koomson said “We’ll produce our report in the coming days. It was the efforts of Regional Coordinating Council and the Mayor that we had this place as our secretariat, we thank the media, Information Service Department for your address system, thank you all”.
The fact-finding committee has called 22 witnesses out of which 19 testified on camera and 3 in camera behind the scene, received audiovisual evidences and are obliged to examine the testimonies and present a report.
Justice Koomson noted that “We’ll be open-minded in our recommendations and report”.
