EOCO Boss COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah removed
President John Dramani Mahama has removed COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah from her position as Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
Sources at the presidency tell African Editors that COP Addo-Danquah has been instructed to hand over her duties and return to the Ghana Police Headquarters for reassignment.
This move comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to restructure EOCO, the agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting economic crimes and corruption. President Mahama’s decision appears aimed at revitalizing the agency and addressing public concerns over its recent performance, particularly in high-profile financial crime cases.
COP Addo-Danquah, who took over as EOCO’s head in January 2022, brought significant experience from her long career in the Ghana Police Service. However, her leadership faced criticism, with some questioning the agency’s handling of major investigations.
African Editors understands that this directive is part of a broader initiative to strengthen key law enforcement agencies and rebuild public trust in anti-corruption efforts.
COP Addo-Danquah will return to the Police Headquarters, where she has previously served. In the interim, her deputy will oversee EOCO’s operations until a permanent replacement is appointed.
