Gas supply to Atuabo temporarily disrupted after technical hitch on Jubilee FPSO
Temporary disruption in Gas supply to Atuabo
A technical issue has led to a temporary halt in gas exports from the Jubilee FPSO (Kwame Nkrumah) to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant (GPP). This development was confirmed in a joint statement by the Ministry of Energy, GNPC, and Ghana Gas.
Incident details
The disruption occurred on May 10, 2025, at around 4:30 PM. According to the statement, a system trip in the gas system aboard the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel affected the flow of gas to Atuabo.
Ongoing technical efforts
Technical teams are currently collaborating with the FPSO operator to determine the root cause of the problem. Corrective measures are being implemented with the aim of restoring gas supply swiftly and safely.
Oil production remains unaffected
Despite the disruption in gas exports, officials confirmed that the oil production system on the Jubilee FPSO remains fully operational and stable.
“We would like to assure the public that the oil production system on the FPSO remains unaffected and continues to operate steadily,” the statement highlighted.
Acknowledgment to stakeholders
The Ministry of Energy extended its appreciation to stakeholders for their patience and understanding while resolution efforts continue.
