Ghana committed to nuclear energy prospects – Dr. Prempeh

Ghana’s Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has reaffirmed that Government of Ghana will continue to deepen its efforts at including nuclear energy in the country’s generation mix in the medium to long term.

The Minister on Wednesday, 26 April 2023, met senior officials of the French Electricityand Nuclear Power Company for discussions aimed at partnering with the company; a leading name in the nuclear power space in the context of Ghana’s nuclear power development.

Dr. Prempeh made the point that Ghana’s energy transition framework which seeks to guarantee energy security in terms of renewable, nuclear and the availability of natural gas, supports every effort at strengthening future electricity generation mix.

He stressed that Ghana remains committed in her nuclear energy prospects, and was hopeful that a potential marriage between Ghana and any of its partners will advance this cause fully, as the county work collectively to achieve a dependable and sustainable energy to support economic growth.
